• Quarterly Financial Results Report – December 2018

This Quarterly Financial Results Report provides financial results for the Western Australian public sector for the six months to 31 December 2018.

The general government sector recorded an operating surplus of $83 million for the first six months of 2018‑19, a $784 million turnaround on the $701 million deficit reported for the same period last year. For the total public sector, infrastructure spending for the six months to 31 December 2018 totalled $2.4 billion, while net debt stood at $35.4 billion at 31 December 2018, up $828 million on the level recorded at 30 June 2018.

Care should be exercised in extrapolating the likely outcome for the 2018-19 year based on the results to date, particularly in light of the seasonal and other timing factors that impact the State’s finances. An update of the forecasts for 2018-19 and forward estimates will be provided in the 2019-20 Budget (due for release in May 2019).
