Council of Australian Governments

The Regulatory Reform Unit (RRU) in the Department of Treasury, alongside the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, coordinates Western Australia’s input to the Business Advisory Forum Taskforce (BAF Taskforce) of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG).  Details on the BAF Taskforce agenda are available on the COAG website www.coag.gov.au

National Standard Chart of Accounts

The State Government has now released a final Implementation Manual and a number of support documents and services for not for profit organisations to use to implement the National Standard Chart of Accounts. 

Regulatory Reform

The RRU provides advice to Government on regulatory reform issues. The RRU also provided secretariat support to the Red Tape Reduction Group in 2010 and lead the development of Reducing the Burden – Report of the Red Tape Reduction Group

Third Party Access

The RRU offers independent and objective advice to Government on third party access to monopoly infrastructure, including railways, ports, and other infrastructure of significance to the economy of Western Australia. 

Competitive Neutrality

The RRU advises State Government businesses on the competitive neutrality implications of their activities and facilitates the resolution of neutrality complaints as they arise. Government business obligations for competitive neutrality can be found in the Western Australian Policy Statement on Competitive Neutrality.
