Commonwealth Grants Commission 2013 Update
On 15 March 2013, the Commonwealth Grants Commission released its ‘2013 Update’ recommendations for States’ GST revenue grant shares in 2013-14.
The Grants Commission has recommended that Western Australia receive only 44.6% of its population share of GST grants in 2013-14, down from an already historic low of 55.1% in 2012-13.
This equates to a cut of $549 million in the State’s GST grant share in 2013-14. Western Australia’s GST grant will be $3.1 billion less than its population share.
The next lowest per capita share is 90.4% for Victoria, followed by 96.6% for New South Wales. For all other States and Territories, it is above 100%.
