• Formal stakeholder consultation gets under way

Critical to the success of the GTE Reform Program is consultation with in-scope GTEs, Ministers, Government departments, industry regulators and other oversight bodies.

This consultation officially began on 27 August 2018 with stakeholders invited to attend industry specific meetings to discuss current challenges and any reforms or disruptors affecting their organisations.

The next step in the consultation process is a series of operational forums structured around key reform areas. These forums are a critical mechanism to co-design a framework that will enhance the connection of GTEs with Ministers and Government.

The forums will take place between mid-September and the end of October with specific stakeholders invited to attend. As feedback and any written responses to each forum are received, the GTE Reform team will consolidate, consider and review all information captured. This information will be used to prepare advice for Cabinet, and will form the basis of drafting instructions for legislation, administrative orders and guidelines ('the framework').

It is expected that further consultation will occur as information is consolidated and different elements of the framework are developed.

GTE Reform Project Director Chelsea Lim thanks all stakeholders for their feedback and willingness to participate in the GTE Reform Program to date:

“I appreciate the time stakeholders are dedicating to the GTE Reform Program and look forward to getting to know everyone further as we continue on the journey towards developing the new governance framework, “ – Chelsea Lim, Project Director.
